Beautiful butterflies started visiting Fairyland. Each butterfly starts out life as a cute caterpillar and, only after your nourishment, it can be turned into a magnificent butterfly.
Here are the steps needed:
1. Forming of a chrysalis on a Butterpillaflora specific to each of the butterflies
2. Butterpillafloras have to be sprouted, but be under an hour old
3. You have to spot a caterpillar in another Garden and make it follow you back to yours (with that caterpillar's Buterpillaflora combination planted in your garden, and still under an hour old), in order for it to form a chrysalis.
4. As soon as the plant flowers, the butterfly will be released from the chrysalis and flutter away, leaving a sparkling flower behind!
5. Some time later (with the correct food out) the butterfly will return to your Garden and flutter around between the flowers - this means she will be feeding there within 30 minutes! It will keep returning until either she is spotted feeding, or the flower becomes Ready for Harvest, whichever happens first.
6. After the butterfly has been spotted, she will not return again and the flower will stop sparkling to show that it is no longer attracting a butterfly.
To get your next butterfly to visit, you will need to repeat the process by spotting another caterpillar and nurturing it in your Garden (although in some rare and lucky cases, a butterfly may decide to feed twice in the same Garden :)
You can only nurture one chrysalis in your Garden at any one time. But as soon as the flower blooms and the butterfly is released, you can immediately begin trying for another one (you don't need to wait until the butterfly has been spotted, only until it has been released from its chrysalis.)
Additional tip: The first flower listed for each caterpillar is its favourite. This is a different flower for each caterpillar, so you can increase the overall attraction power for a certain caterpillar by planting multiple of its favourite flower (the exception being the Wriggly Red, which is only attracted by the Supershroom, of which you can only have one.)
Note: Once you spot a caterpillar, if you have a less than an hour sprouting butterpillaflora that match, you'll get this message: "Woohoo! The caterpillar finished munching on the <food>, and wriggled away to your Garden to form its chrysalis on your <colour> Butterpillaflora!"
If you already have one one nurturing, it will say: "This caterpillar could not go to your Garden to form its chrysalis as there's already a chrysalis being nurtured in your Garden right now (only one chrysalis can be nurtured in a Garden at any one time!)"
Another note:it doesn't matter if you have a Red Butterpillaflora chrysalis in your garden, youCAN'T make another one with the Prickly Orange Caterpillar on the Orange Butterpillaflora. I guess they are colour-blind ;)
Here you will find the unofficial calculation of how many butterflies spotted and how many Rubies in your storage you are going to need in order to complete the rainbow quest in one go.
